I believe that most of manufactures in old times built quality products that were built to last. Today’s trends are focusing on saving costs in order to create mass production on the expenses of quality. I had several new guitar amps that suffered from contact problems and bad knobs after less than one year, while my 1961 fender tremolux never caused me trouble and I expect it to work for another 50 years.
