Every guitar is different and I wish I could have more of them but my two Martins offer very wide usages.
The D-35 sounds more classic and dramatic. It is also better and louder in band situations while the D-15 is more special and good for personal folk style and fast percussive rhythms.

One of the things I like about owning these two models is that they represent the two extremes of the Martin dreadnought’s tonal spectrum. The D-15 is a radical Mahogany Dreadnought while the D-35 as a radical Rosewood Dreadnought. I think that the Martin D-18 with Mahogany back and sides but spruce top is somewhat in the middle.

Then the seller handed me this strange looking, all dark brown, mahogany guitar and said “This is a Martin, they make great guitars”. I strummed one chord and was immediately sold. Something in the bass response was so warm and woody I had to buy it. For 10 years this Martin D-15 had served me very well. I’ve gigged over 1000 times with it and recorded 3 albums using it.
